First Week of School

Tuesday was Brady's first day of school! He was so excited when we pulled up. Of course he started running the opposite way so he could get closer to the school buses.

What is up with little boys and large vehicles? He would have sat for hours watching the buses (another favorite spot is the airport pick up lane).

Can you tell which one of us had a hard time letting go?
He left us in the dust and marched into school.

Brady's teacher let us follow him into the classroom where he promptly ignored us and started smiling and bouncing on his butt for circle time. We left, I made Troy go look at some land in the west valley with me for work, then we headed back and picked Brady up four hours later.

The Brady we dropped off was NOT the Brady we picked up. He did great at circle time and, from what we heard, cried/fussed/slept the rest of the day. He wouldn't eat his snack or lunch so we made an emergency stop at Chic-Fil-A. Look at this exhausted boy.

Brady ate but wouldn't really respond to us in any way for several hours. He couldn't calm down and sleep until later that night. Troy and I were both so upset and worried. I held my breath the next morning when I pulled up to school once again. Just when I thought Brady would start screaming, he clapped and squealed. I couldn't believe he wanted to go back to school and when Troy picked him up later that day his teacher reported that "he had a phenomenal day."

Huuuuge sigh of relief. Thursday also went well and I swear this kid was so bored on Friday and over the weekend. I can't wait to drop him off on Monday morning!

That's funny...I've never heard of "CHIC"-Fil-A.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm kind of proud that I can't spell it - maybe that means I go there less than you?

I love Chic-fil-A! Who cares how it's spelled! I am so glad Brady had a good week at school with the exception of the first day but hey it was his first day being off on his own. Hopefully you guys can find a sitter for this Saturday so that you can go with us to explore some deep dark hole in the ground.:) Have a good second week Brady!!!!!

So glad you all survived the tough "first day" and that, when it was all said and done, he wanted to go back for more! Yea! My boys are always exhausted the first week or so of school, too... just adjusting to all the extra energy they expend after a lazy fun-filled summer!

Ahh, the first day of school is so emotional! I'm glad you all made it through. So great that everything worked out in the end. It sounds like he is going to love it. How fun!

yeah! First days, first weeks of school are rough on everyone! I'm never ready to go to bed early/wake up early... like tonight, my kids all turned in at midnight and school starts in one more day! I'm so glad that Brady is squealing for school, very exciting.

First days are so hard - especially when he is so little! I'm so glad things went well though, what a relief! I hope it's cooling down a bit for you?

Oh, for a minute there you made me panic! He just probably needed to "warm up" to the whole routine and I'm sure that first day just zapped him of all his energy. So glad to hear that he is doing wonderful now and enjoying each day. Aren't the looks on their faces just priceless sometimes? I know that our kids don't actually speak words, but their expressions say it all. I would love to watch his expressions as the buses and big trucks go by and wonder what exactly is going through his mind. Way to go Brady...you are way to cute! We send hugs from Illinois.

I am so happy for you all. I told you they want their independence. The first day was just adjustment day. Is Brady still enjoying school? I love the pics. Thay made me laugh. Have a good day.

YEEAAAAAAAA for Brady!
I bet that first day was a shocker for the system!
I'm glad he has gotten used to it and likes it!
We don't start until next week and I'm already having a hard time visualizing Q stepping onto the bus!

Hi Kajsa! I am so glad you found us:)

You are never going to believe this but, last week we had our transition to pre-school meeting at the Cholla Complex. As we were touring the classrooms the lady we were meeting with pointed out your son (because I had expressed concerns that John wasn't walking) and said, "This little guy just learned to walk and is doing fantastic!" When I looked at your blog I realized it was the same kid.....small world!

Anyway, hopefully we'll be able to meet up sometime and get the boys together.

The Hippotherapy is at a place called Horses Help. Their website is http://www.horseshelp.org. Hopefully you can get Brady enrolled. I have heard lots of great things about them.

Brady is adorable and looks like he is really doing well.

Hey, how's life? Hope you guys are doing well. Maybe, just maybe, it might be okay to do a little update on your blog...you know, just maybe. He-he! :)

Loving that Brady's non-seizure counter is at 99. So exciting!! 100 seizure-free days as of tomorrow. I'm so happy for you guys.

Take care and hopefully we'll here from you soon. (hint, hint!)

Hey Troy! You probably have no idea who I am but I was just looking at my good friends Seth and Becky Storms blog and saw a link to yours! What a small world! You have a cute family. My husband, Doug attended Air Force Pilot training in Mississippi with Seth, like 6 years ago and that's how we met. They are awesome and don't live too far from us these days. Anyway I don't have a blog these days-I'm a blog slacker but you can check out my sister Ericka's at darrenericka.blogspot.com I know she'd love to hear from you. Take care LuAnn Wall Johnson

What a small world it is! It is so fun to catch up and see your family as well! Wow-Brady's hair is awesome! I am so jealous of all those curls! I'm glad that he's enjoying school too. I feel bad about the seizure thing...Our oldest had one last summer and had to be life flighted...it wasn't fun. It looks like Brady is doing great though! I'm excited to keep in touch!

The blogging world is so crazy! It is such a small world! Looks like you are doing good. I'm putting you on my sidebar so I can keep up! This is so fun!!
